Maya Williams ’22 Awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowship

Senior Applied Mathematics major, Maya Williams ’22, has been awarded a prestigious National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship for 2022. These awards are highly competitive, and are awarded in fields that students will continue to study in graduate school. The 2022 Fellowship selection process was very intense, with over 13,000 applications submitted. Of those 13,000 applicants, 2,193 individuals were selected for awards. Maya was one of 2 awardees in TCNJ’s School of Science, which also included Physics major Mary McMullan. A 3rd TCNJ student, Engineering major Madison Bland rounded out the current TCNJ students who also received a fellowship this year.

About NSF’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program:

The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees at accredited United States institutions.  Fellows receive a three-year annual stipend of $34,000 along with a $12,000 cost of education allowance for tuition and fees.
