
This weekend, TCNJ was the New Jersey host site and one of 30 qualifying sites nationally, for the United States Math Olympiad.. At TCNJ’s site, 45 students spent nine hours, over two days, working on 6 math problems. 29 high school students competed in the United States Math Olympiad and 16 students in grades 8-10 competed in the Junior Math Olympiad. The top students nationally in each competition advance to Math Olympiad Program training camp, where the team that represents the
United States in the International Math Olympiad (IMO) is selected. This year’s IMO will be held in Shanghai, China in July. In the 2025 IMO, the United States placed second in the world and China won the gold medal.
Professors Karen Clark, Andrew Clifford, and Ben Nicholson assisted Professor Tom Hagedorn, the site’s Competition Manager, in organizing the competition and were helped by TCNJ mathematics majors Amanda Cramer, Sean Fuddle, and Buernaki Puplampu.
