Title: An Ideal View of the Fibonacci Sequence
Abstract: Commutative Algebra is a modern branch of mathematics that has roots in number theory, geometry, and invariant theory. It is a vibrant area with many interesting questions to consider. In this talk we will explore the foundations of the field through a quick historical introduction. Basic definitions such as rings, ideals, and modules will be defined as well. Given this foundation, we will discuss the Hilbert series of a module and its relation to monomial ideals and the Fibonacci sequence.
