Inclusive Education and Mathematics Teaching Dual Major

The education and Mathematics dual major is offered to students enrolled in one of the following teacher education programs: early childhood education, early childhood special education, elementary education, elementary education of the deaf and hard of hearing, elementary special education, and secondary special education.

Mathematics Requirements

Mathematics Correlates (2 units)

Students must complete all 2 courses:

  • STA 216: Statistical Inference and Probability for Educators
  • BIO 104: Inquiries in the Life Sciences

Mathematics Teaching Core (11 units)

  • MAT 099: Orientation to Mathematics and Statistics
  • MAT 105: Mathematical Structures and Algorithms for Educators I
  • MAT 127: Calculus A
  • MAT 128: Calculus B
  • MAT 200: Proof Writing Through Discrete Mathematics
  • MAT 205: Linear Algebra
  • MAT 229: Multivariable Calculus
  • MAT 255: Perspectives on the Development of Mathematics
  • MAT 301: Number Theory
  • MAT 305: Abstract Algebra
  • MAT 310: Real Analysis
  • MAT 351: Geometry

Mathematics Teaching Options (1 units)

Students complete one course:

  • MAT/STA course at the 300/400-level.
